Products that look alike on paper can perform very differently at home. Here is exactly what we look at before recommending one.
What We Look At
- Certifications: NSF/ANSI 42, 53, 58, 401, and 473 listings and what each one covers
- What it removes: the contaminants the manufacturer has certified, not marketing claims
- Flow and capacity: gallons per day, filter life, and waste water ratio for RO systems
- Installation: tools needed, space under the sink, and whether a plumber is needed
- Maintenance: filter change intervals and how easy changes are
- True ownership cost: price plus a year of replacement filters
Where Our Information Comes From
We evaluate manufacturer-published specifications, independent certifications, official product data from Amazon’s catalog, and patterns across verified customer ratings and reviews. We do not invent specifications, test results, or hands-on claims. Where we describe real-world performance, it reflects the consensus of verified owner reviews, not independent lab testing.
